In a year like no other, as the world faced a global
pandemic, Lebanon was struggling with overlapping
crises. Between the spread of the COVID-19 virus at
alarming rates and the devastating explosion in
Beirut killing more than 200 people, the situation in
Lebanon has pushed tens of thousands people into
poverty. With growing financial uncertainties,
heightened tensions in households and disruption of
life-saving services amidst lockdown, risks of genderbased
violence were exacerbated.
