On the occasion of the international 16 Days of Activism to end violence against women and girls, Abaad has launched its campaign #SafetyForSafekeepers. Gender-based violence, especially in the form of sexual harassment and abuse, is a major issue for every woman in Lebanon. Women create safe spaces, build a safe country, yet don’t feel safe in their own country. They face this threat every day in both public and private arenas: in the workplace, on the streets, and even sometimes in their own home.

The Face Masks campaign
As part of “Safety for Safe Keepers” campaign, Abaad produced and distributed this special advocacy face mask with Abaad’s Safeline number written on the inside with a reassuring message that the NGO is a phone call away for safekeeping & protection from violence. The mask that symbolizes protection against Covid-19 was used as well to protect women from any kind of harassment and abuse and at same time convey the message of the need to “speak up” in case of being a subject to abuse and not “cover it.”
During the campaign, Abaad printed more than a thousand face masks and distributed them to women (Lebanese and refugees) in various communities across the country and in nine Palestinian Refugee camps.
In the past months during the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of calls to Abaad’s hotline tripled in comparison to the same period last year, highlighting the greater threat for women during lockdown and the increased need for support.
في إطار حملة الأمان لمن تصنع الأمان, وزّعت منظمة أبعاد أقنعة وجه تحمل بداخلها الرقم الآمن الخاص بالمنظمة، مكتوبًا عليه من الداخل رسالة مطمئنة، مفادها أن المنظمة على بعد مكالمة هاتفية لحمايتك من العنف.
تم استخدام القناع الذي يستعمل للوقاية من فايروس كورونا لحماية النساء من أي نوع من التحرش أو العنف، وفي الوقت نفسه لتوجيه رسالة ل”رفع الصوت والتكلم” في حالة التعرض للإساءة وليس “التستر عليها.”
خلال الحملة، وزّع فريق عمل “أبعاد” أكثر من ألف قناع وجه مكتوب عليه الرقم الآمن للنساء (لبنانيات ولاجئات) في مجتمعات مختلفة حول أنحاء البلاد، وفي تسعة مخيمات للاجئين/ات الفلسطينيين/ات.
في الأشهر الماضية، وخلال جائحة كوفيد -19، تضاعف عدد المكالمات الواردة إلى الخط الساخن ثلاث مرات مقارنة بالفترة نفسها من العام الماضي، ما سلط الضوء على الخطر الأكبر الذي تتعرض له النساء أثناء الإغلاق والحاجة المتزايدة للدعم.

قصص لأصوات نساء بطلات يعشن في الأحياء والمدن والضواحي. خاضت هؤلاء النساء صعوبات وتحديات تكللت بالنجاح، وعكست مساحات من الحب والقوة رأيناها في مراكز منظمة أبعاد في كل من عكار-ببنين، جبيل، الغبيري، اللبوة، البيسارية، بعلبك، البقاع الغربي، والمصيطبة
هذا الحب لم يُعطي إلا الحياة في الوقت الذي لا يكافىء هذا العطاء بأي مقابل، بل على العكس كل هذا الحب مُلام، موصوم ومعنف من قبل نظامنا الأبوي
